Welcome to Union County Planning
The Union County Planning Department serves as your resource for land use planning, zoning, and development in unincorporated Union County. We help can help you navigate the planning process. Our work is guided by Oregon’s Statewide Planning Goals, as codified by the Oregon State Statutes and Oregon Administrative Rules, which balance the protection of agricultural and forest lands, natural resources, and rural character with opportunities for economic growth and housing. These statutes and rules are then applied at a local level through adoption into the Zoning, Partition, and Subdivision Ordinance.
We encourage anyone considering purchasing, dividing or developing property to call or stop in and discuss your plans and options with us. We will be happy to assist you, and may be able to provide valuable information that could save you time and money in the future. We always strive to provide you with timely, accurate and professional responses.
Onsite Wastewater Systems
Harney County’s Environmental Health Program is providing Onsite Septic Service for Union County. This service includes all things septic: application intake, inquiries, record retention, records search, consults, fee collection, inspections, permit issuances, etc. You can obtain a septic application from the Harney County Web Site.
You will need to bring the LUCS portion of the application into the Planning Department for approval before submitting to Harney County.
Applications can be submitted by email or on line through Oregon E-Permitting.
To schedule an inspection please email Jesse Barnes, or call 541-573-2761 or text 541-589-5788.
