Warning Week Data Indicates No Change from Extreme Risk Category

Updates received from Governor Kate Brown and Oregon Health Authority (OHA) state that Union County will remain in the COVID-19 Extreme Risk Level this week.  Movement between risk categories is based on case counts, and unfortunately Union County exceeded the total number of cases to allow a change in categories.

Early indications received last week from the Governor and OHA during the state-established Warning Week looked as if Union County would be able to move to a lower risk category level.  Unfortunately, high COVID case counts late last week pushed the county over the Oregon Health Authority threshold requiring the county to stay at the Extreme Risk level.  In order to drop to a lower risk level, new cases would have needed to be lower than a total of 60 cases for the period of December 27 – January 9.  Oregon Health Authority has reported 88 new cases in Union County for that time period.
